Heavy Body Acrylics

The original line of GOLDEN Artist Acrylics is known for exceptionally smooth, thick buttery consistency.

It contains the largest assortment of unique pure pigments in a 100% acrylic emulsion vehicle available to the professional artist. These colors offer excellent permanency and lightfastness. There are no fillers, extenders, opacifiers, toners, or dyes added.

Each Heavy Body color is formulated differently depending on the nature of the pigment. Colors that tolerate higher pigment "loads" dry to a more opaque, matte finish. Colors that are more reactive and do not accept high pigment loading dry to a glossy finish and tend to be more transparent.  Heavy Body colors contain no additives, such as matting agents, therefore the gloss of each color will be different. 

The Neutral Grays, N2 through N8, available in Heavy Body consistency only, are a series of achromatic grays that follow the Munsell Value Scale which ranges from black to white through a series of balanced grays. They allow an artist to adjust the value and chroma of a color without altering the hue. Bone black is recommended for the neutral black (N1) and Titanium White for the neutral white (N10).

The Custom Colors have a Heavy Body consistency, but are blends of various pigments for the artist's convenience.

Iridescent Acrylics

GOLDEN Iridescent Acrylics may be used alone or with other colors, gels and mediums. Iridescent Pearl is extremely useful for mixing with other colors for pearl-like qualities. The Iridescent Bronze, Silver, Gold and Copper develop non-tarnishing metallic finishes. Stainless Steel and Micaceous Iron Oxide are made with highly reflective metallic pigments. Most Iridescent Acrylics are available in Fine and Coarse.

Interference Acrylics

GOLDEN Interference Acrylic Colors offer a unique "interference flip" when viewed from different perspectives. Interference Colors flip between a bright opalescent color and its opalescent complement.

When applied over white or lighter surfaces, the Interference Color is less obvious and the "flip" effect is more obvious. When applied over black or darker surfaces, the Interference Color is more obvious and the "flip" effect is less obvious.

Adding a very small amount of black to Interference Colors produces deeper opalescent effects. Combine Interference Colors with GOLDEN Gels (Gloss) and GOLDEN Fluid Acrylic colors to produce an endless variety of colors and effects.

Most Interference Colors are available in Fine or Coarse.

Fluid Acrylics

Fluid Acrylics are highly intense, permanent acrylic colors with a consistency similar to heavy cream. Produced from lightfast pigments, not dyes, they offer very strong colors with very thin consistencies. No fillers or extenders are added and the pigment load is comparable to GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylics.

Unlike mixtures of heavy-bodied paints and water which produce weak color and films by dilution, Fluid Acrylics contain high pigment levels suspended in an acrylic polymer vehicle. The result offers fine dispersion, high tinting strength, durability, flexibility and good adhesion. Fluid Acrylics are ideal for spraying, brushing, staining, and can be mixed with other GOLDEN Products. Blend with Airbrush Medium for spray application. Excellent for fabric application.
